The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Montana State University in Bozeman has a post-baccalaureate (BSN to DNP) program that prepares advanced practice nurses for leadership roles in the primary health care setting. The program offers two areas of specialization - Family/Individual Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The university also offers a post-master's DNP program. Students must complete a DNP scholarly project in order to graduate. Some examples of previous topics for the DNP scholarly project include: development of mental health outreach programs to the rural elderly; establishment of pediatric cancer support groups for the rural client, and examination of alternative health practices for healing.
